DHCP server never assisngs first 16 iPv4 addresses in a VLAN. Why?
I understand from an article of MS Technet (see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc720355%28v=ws.10%29.aspx), that a DHCP server never assigns the first 16 IP addresses in the iPv4 range in a VLAN, as they are reserved. The first two make sense
to me (x.x.x.0 and x.x.x.1). And what about x.x.x.255?
What is the reason for keeping these reserved? Is this a general reservation or is this just related Virtual Server 2005?
Please advise
