Customize Sync folder in OneDrive for Business desktop client

We have Office 365 tenant, and would like to start using One Drive for Business client application on users' desktop to sync on premises SharePoint Mysite files onto Office 365 Mysite.  I tried to map network drive as local storage to sync onto cloud, but got below error.    I can change save library to any folder on local

drive  ( C:\), but not any of the network mapped drives. We have folder redirection enabled for 'MyDocuments", would like to use network drive (say G:\Libraries\Documents) as sync folder. Is there anyway I can setup?

Hi,

In short the answer is no. Please refer to this kb below:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2965687

For the OneDrive for Business sync app to work as designed, the following requirements must be met:
  • The application must be installed on the local computer.
  • The user must be able to write to the user profile.
  • Data that's written to the user profile must be saved to the local hard disk and be available without a network connection.

So based on the description above, it's a by design thing that we cannot sync to a mapped network drive.
