Customize Remote Installation Services on Server 2003.
I have been searching for day's. I have installed Windows Deployment Services on a Windows Server 2003 server and am trying to configure it to work in mixed mode. I have initialised legacy Remote Installation Server mode and I am trying to customize the client login screens and unattended installation before I initialise WDS. We have some bandwidth issues so we do all our initial installs and imaging in our lab on a single subnet. My preference is for my techs to have as little interaction with the installation as possible. To that end I would liketo automate the initial login process using a default user account. Also I want to partition my client hard drives to have more than one partition before I install Windows XP. I have searched and searched Microsoft's web site for a comprehensive explanation telling me how to do this and all I can find is page after page of descriptions saying that, at least the partitioning part is possible, but I can't find anything that actually tells me how to do it. I have worked with sysprep so I am familiar with how answer files work. If I could find out what entries I need and where to put the answer files once there created I'm sure I could create the files I need. Please! Somebody has to know how todo this or at least where to find the proper documentation. As I said I have been lost in Microsoft cyber-space for day's. All I can find bits and pieces of information that never quite give me the whole picture. So just when I think I've got the answer I discover that the one key piece of information has been left out. Like where to put the darn file or what to name it, etc. Tom
