Customise exchange 2007 console for admin guys create mailbox
Hi guys , I managed to customise the exchange console to be able to show the recipient configuration only . Admin guys able to run the console with no error if he are the exchange organisation administrator and Exchange recipient administrator. But once i remove his rights from exchange organisation administrator , when he launch the console it prompt get-transportserver error. "The windows cluster service encountered an error during function opencluster: access is denied." Believe he/she doesnt have rights to read the information. May i know how to resolve this issue ? I dont want to give organisation admin rights to the admin guys. please help. I'm using exchange 2007 sp1 and windows 2003 ent clustering.

Hi cskhor, If you just delegate the Exchange recipient administrator to your admin guys, the admin guys will also see the same console as Organization admin. I think this can only be done in Exchange 2010. But you can try to add Exchange 2007 console to MMC. After you add the snap-in, you can navigate to "Recipient Configuration",right click it->New Windows from here-> save the console. Next time, open the customize console directly. Frank Wang

Hi Frank , I did the customize console . But without the organization admin rights , they will get below error message. get-transportserver Error "The windows cluster service encountered an error during function opencluster: access is denied." So is it mean that in exchange 2007 i can customize the console but i still need give them organisation admin rights. Only in exchange 2010 , i can just delegate recipient admin rights only ?

Hi cskhor, My lab is just a single Exchange 2007 without cluster. I can open it successfully. So I think there is some limitation about Cluster permission. Do you deploy CCR or SCR? And in Exchange 2010, there is new permission mode called RBAC, it can "customize" console to you.Frank Wang
