Custom address lists not updating automatically
I have Exchange 2010 latest SP. we have some custom address lists based on the Department field. It appears that new users automatically appear in the correct list but existing users who have their field changed do not UNLESS you manually update them. BEFORE you reply let me state the following It works fine if I manually update the the list using the GUI or the shell. All clients are OL 2010 not cached. I am sure this could be scripted and done with task manager, but really this is foolish when we have 60-80 lists! BUT that is not my question My question is should this not happen automatically? It did in Exchange 2003 and why would it now not be so?TRL

I do not see a solution other than scripting in that thread. Also there is no explanation of whether this is designed behaviour or not.TRL

The OAB updates twice daily. Even if I update the OAB manually it does not update the custom list. I don't thnk the OAB has a role on custom ists.TRL

Hi Tim, You are right, the OAB has nothing to do with your problem. Every recipient has values for AddressListMembership and that is only updated when you make a change in EMC or EMS. So if you changed the Department field in ADUC, that would explain why you don't see this change in your Address Lists without updating the Lists manually.Martina Miskovic

Thank-you your answer was helpful. Now the question is why do we have do this manually? Surely MSFT, this a feature that you removed and now requies manual intervention?TRL
