Cross-Forest mailbox moves from 2007 to 2013 quesion

Hello,

I am trying to migrate cross-forest from SBS2008 to Exchange 2013.

I'm stuck on running the move-request as it throws up a MRSProxy error, saying "failed because no service was listening on the specified endpoint" then 404 error.

I'm running the move request from the 2013 server and it appears it's trying to use the MRSProxy service to connect to the 2007 mailbox, which doesn't appear available.

Does anyone know if this is possible and able to point me in the right direction?

I've done this before but from 2010 to 2013 and it worked fine, but this time since it's 2007, it seems I can't because MRSProxy was only introduced in 2010. I was hoping to use this guide here.. at step 8 (can't do forest trust since it's SBS)

Hi,

Thanks but this appears to be 2007-2013 migration within the same forest.

I'm looking to do remote mailbox moves/cross forest.

Has anyone seen a step-by-step type guide for this?

Thanks

As a work around, you can also achieve this task by exporting mailbox to PST file and then import it.
Prepare mailboxes for cross-forest move requests
New-MailboxImportRequest

Moreover, you may also take help from below given informative article to perform cross forest migration.
Exchange 2013: Cross Forest/ORG Migration from Exchange 2010/2007

As an alternative, You can test this application i.e.  http://www.exchange2007to2013migration.exchangemigrationtool.com/  that looks one of the most convenient as well as suitable solution to accomplish this task.

Hope it is helpful.

Hi,

Do you change enable MRS Proxy endpoint on Client Access servers? If not, please refer to below link to know about "Exchange 2013: Cross Forest/ORG Migration from Exchange 2010/2007": http://msexchangeguru.com/2013/11/03/e2013crossforestmigration/

"For cross-forest moves that are initiated from the target environment (known as a pull move type), you have to enable the MRS Proxy endpoint on Client Access servers in the source environment.
For cross-forest moves that are initiated from the source environment (known as a push move type), you have to enable the MRS Proxy endpoint on Client Access servers in the target environment."

Thanks

Thanks, yes I was using that website.

I found the issue in the end, it was when entering the remote credentials I needed to enter the username as domain.local\admin instead of domain\local. Now it's working.

Thanks for your help.
