Creating a distribution list for external email addresses
I'm running Exchange Server 2003 SP2 and I need to create a distribution group that is made up of email addresses that are external to my domain. I also need to have the ability to allow a set of users to send to the addresses contained in this group as update@mydomain.com so that the From: field in the outgoing email contains update@mydomain.com. Here's what I did and where I'm stuck:I made a distribution group called update@mydomain.com in Active Directory. Then I created a sample contact in Active Directory that has my personal email address (external from mydomain.com) and added this to the update group. Next I gave Authenticated Users "Send As" permissions to the update object in Active Directory. Finally, I set an Exchange mailbox for both my contact and the update group. When I send an email to update@mydomain.com from my Outlook as my work account, my personal email address receives the mail as expected. The From: field shows my work email address, the To: field shows update@mydomain.com.What I would like to do is change the From: field so that it is displayed as update@mydomain.com. When I open a new mail in Outlook and display the From: field and type in update@mydomain.com, I get a bounce immediately that says:Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: test10 Sent: 6/7/2007 9:49 AMThe following recipient(s) could not be reached: update@mydomain.com on 6/7/2007 9:49 AM You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator. MSEXCH:MSExchangeIS:/DC=local/DC=mydomain:mailserverI tried giving Self "Send To" permissions on the update object in AD, but that didn't help.Does anyone know where I went wrong? Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way...thanks
