Creating a Server-Side Rule to automatically reply with a specific message
I'm having trouble setting up an auto-reply message to one of our e-mail accounts. I tried setting up a rule that sends a reply to messages received to an email address (with several exceptions), but I can only get it to work when Outlook is up and running. How do I change it from a client-based rule to a server-side one? I tried the rules option to have the server send a reply, but when I tested it, it was not working. Any help anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. I tried searching in technet and kb, but have not had much luck. Thanks, Kerri

Hello Kerri, Are you giving reference of any object/folder of local PST file while creating rules in condition or exception? Then it will create it as a client-side rule because of any local system reference. Refer below article for creating server-side rule for auto-reply and make sure that you have Auto-replies setting enabled in Global Settings. Thanks for your reply. I had found the kb article about creating a server-side rule and tried that, but it did not work? I have the subject and the body of the message completed, but did not put anything in the to field assuming it would just send it out to the sender of the message. Is there something else I should be putting in there? Kerri

Hello Kerri, No once you create a template with subject and body it should work. Check this for complete package of auto-reply rule creation: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA102487481033.aspx

Thanks - I'll give it a try again. Maybe I need to be a bit more patient
