Create Distribution List for sub domain
I am email administrator in one university. We have one domain xxx.edu which is the email domain for the academician. xxx.edu use Microsoft Exchange 2007 SP1. We also have a subdomain for our student, student.xxx.edu. Student.xxx.edu use Windows LiveatEdu for the email service and do not have any Ms Exchange 2007 installed. I would like to create distribution list for the students email. I tried to create distribution list using the Exchange Console on xxx.edu but I couldn't find the student's domain from the console. Is there any way that I could create the distribution list of the student using the xxx.edu domain? Out of topic question : Can anybody shows me the link on how to create distribution list using the Microsoft Identity Integration Manager 2003 which we use to provision student email to LiveatEDU ?

You need to change the recipient scope in console. Recipient Configuration > Recipient Scope http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124527.aspx For second question, you may need to post it in ILM forum to get proper direction. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/identitylifecyclemanager/threadsAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

I have changed the recipient configuration to search the entire forest. I have managed to see the student AD forest and to create the distribution list for the student. But when I look again at the student properties, they do not have the SMTP Address, which is the email address. Do I need to install Ms Exchange on the server, or can I create distribution list that can read the student email address from their UserPrincipleName in AD ?

I am not sure how conjunction of Exchange 2007 domain works with LiveatEdu, you may need to run setup /domainprep in student domain but I would suggest you to check with LiveatEdu side for the effect of it on their services before doing it.Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
