Connecting smart phone to exchange server 2003 usinng the POP3 plugin
I am trying to setup an exchange server 2003 so it can be wirelessly connected to by smartphones. It currently uses the POP3 plugin to download email from an outside host so the exchange server is not reachable from the internet. How do I give it access to internet and will I need to change how it gets the mail?

You are going to need a permanent connection to the Internet, and then either a static IP address or a dynamic DNS account. With a POP3 connector involved you will only get email when it arrives in the mailbox, although it depends how the POP3 connector puts the messages in the mailbox. If you are using your own domain then the best option is to change to SMTP delivery. Again that would require a always on connection. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources

I see no reason why not. That doesn't mean a POP3 connector is a good idea. I refuse to use them myself, due to their significant limitations. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources
