Connecting Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2007 on Two domain trust
I've two domain forest and has 2-way trust relationship domain1.local and domain2.local domain1.local host all the email and runing exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows 2008 Server. Domain1.local hosts multiple domain. domain1.local has the email accounts for domain2.local e.g. 123@domain2.local and abc@domain2.local etc. users can connec to via outlook on SMPT/POP3. domain1 and and domain2 are on the same physical location but at different floors. I want to configure the Outlook profile of domain2.local to domain1.local Exchange server , same as domain1.local users use their outlook. in other words I'm trying to connect/configure my outlook profile on another domain at the same physical location.

Autodiscover will do that for you. Simply create a zone for autodiscover.example.com (where example.com is the domain that is in their email address after the @ sign) and create a host in there for the server that is hosting their mailboxes. Therefore as long as autodiscover.example.com is one of the additional names on the certificate, Outlook will connect, get the relevant information and then configure itself correctly. If you have the permissions set correctly on the mailbox so that the the trusted account has permissions, there shouldn't even be any prompts. Simple as that. instead of creating DNS entries I'm adding the entries in the host file to avoid any email issues. here how it is 192.168.168.25 EAI-MAILCLUS-01 - mailbox active node A (cluster) 192.168.168.26 EAI-MAILCLUS-02 - mailbox passive node B (cluster) 192.168.168.27 EAI-MAILSRVR-01 - cluster virtual name 192.168.168.28 EAI-MAILOWA-01 - HUB/CAS Node 1 192.168.168.29 EAI-MAILOWA-02 - HUB / CAS Node 2 192.168.168.28 autodiscover.example.com This account test@example.com is configured for outlook on it example domain, when I use to creat the outlook profile on another worksataion from another domain it doesn't work. It say Bookmark is not valid. At the same time I'm able to configure the Outlook profile for other domains on my workstation with no issues.

All hostnames should be fully qualified, as in EAI-MAILCLUS-01.example.com. You might consider making similar unqualified entries in LMHOSTS. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . That would definitely affect Exchange connectivity. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." . I am not a fan of hosts files personally. A better option would be to simply have the AD domain with Exchange as a secondary domain in the DNS of the domain without Exchange. Then if you make any changes, the DNS replicates. With hosts files, anything is changed you have to touch every machine. Bookmark not valid is usually a domain controller issue. I don't know what else I can say. Create a secondary zone and point it at the other domain controller server as the source. You will have to enable replication on the DNS zone. Thats it. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/

Let me create the trust relatiponship again, as of now it is non-transitive and this could be the problem. I'll create a new transitive trust.

I've checked for the FQDN of above mentioned server names 192.168.168.25 EAI-MAILCLUS-01.eafg.local - mailbox active node A (cluster) 192.168.168.26 EAI-MAILCLUS-02.eafg.local - mailbox passive node B (cluster) 192.168.168.27 EAI-MAILSRVR-01.eafg.local - cluster virtual name 192.168.168.28 EAI-MAILOWA-01.eafg.local - HUB/CAS Node 1 192.168.168.29 EAI-MAILOWA-02.eafg.local - HUB / CAS Node 2 192.168.168.28 autodiscover.example.com - where do i resolve this to? autodiscover.eai-mailowa-01.eafg.local .....?

Resolve it to a CAS server. However for it to be accepted by the clients without certificate prompts, it will have to be one of the additional names in the certificate. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/
