Configuring DNS suffix for Exchange 2k7sp1 Edge server
Hopefully a quick question: Specifically, what should the DNS suffix of an Edge server be? Should we duplicate the domain namethat all our Exchange server are located in? Should we use our main email address? As long as we have an A record in the DMZ DNS server for the Hub Transport, and an A record inside our domain for our Edge server - does it even matter what the suffix is? Thanks!

Hi Russ, Yes name resolution should work if you have hub server record in DMZ DNS but you may get error in ExBPA if you dont configure DNS suffix of Edge transport server which is DNS Suffix of the domain where your Hub transport roles installed. Refer below article to configure DNS settings for Edge/Hub server. Configuring DNS Settings for Exchange 2007 Servers http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124896.aspx

I cannot seem to find any documentation that explicitly says what to set the Primary DNS suffix on the Edge Transport server to. If indeed it should be configured to reflect the domain name of where the Hub servers are installed, why?
