It is recommended that you install Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or (SP2) before installing Exchange 2003 SP2Before you apply Exchange Server 2003 SP2 to a new Exchange front-end server, make sure that you apply the required service packs and hotfixes to bring both the front-end and back-end servers to the same update level. For example, if you still have a back-end server that is running SP1, you must apply SP1 to your front-end server before you apply SP2.If your Exchange Server 2003 organization uses a front-end and back-end architecture, you must upgrade your front-end servers before you upgrade your back-end servers. Our Org is running with Windows 2003 sp2 and Exchange 2003 sp2 and we have 4 FE with Exchange 2003 sp2 We never had any issue with performance or service. Go ahead and install Windows 2003 Sp2 and then install sp2 for exchange. First install it on F.E and then to B.EVinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Thanks for the help.Is your FE using Exchange Server 2003 Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition? Will there be any compatibility concerns between these 2 different editions since Standard edition is not listed as one of the compatible application for 2K3 SP2?

F.E is Standard Edition. and there will not be any compatibility issue between editions. MS releases SP and Hotfixes keeping these things in mind. so you go ahead and upgrade your systems . Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|
