Circular Logging
We have Exchange 2003 SP2 in a Win2003 domain.Presently our stores are configured with circular logging. This is preventing our backup software from doing incremental backups--which we want to do. The logs are occupying 25GB of a 68GB disk, 23GB are free. If I turn off circular logging I want to insure that the logs are cleared after a full backup. Is this done by a setting in Exchange, on the backup software or is it automatic?

Log clearing is typically performed automatically by the backup software. As long as your backup software is Exchange-aware you should be fine. What backup software do you have? Tony

We are using Acronis for Exchange.

In that case you should be fine as long as you haven't changed the default. The default setting within Acronis is to truncate the logs after backup. Tony

Yes turn off circular logging and run your full backup. I would do this off hours the first time to be safe. Mark Morowczynski|MCT| MCSE 2003:Messaging, Security|MCITP:ES, SA,EA|MCTS:Windows Mobile Admin|Security+|http://almostdailytech.com
