Child domain mailboxes do not appear in GAL, do appear in OWA
This organization is a brand new E2010 SP1 environment, with Exchange installed in the root domain of the forest. Forest and domain preparation were properly applied and mailboxes can be enabled for users in both the root (parent) and user resource (child) domains. The problem here is that all mailboxes provisioned within the child domain are not appearing within the global address list when viewed from Outlook (any version) or from the EMS (Get-Recipient -Filter {AddressListMembership -eq 'CN=All Users,CN=All Address Lists,CN=Address Lists Container,CN=First Organization,CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=company,DC=com'}). All mailboxes are visible within the OWA address book. Other info: I have forced an update of the GAL, no change The mailboxes do not appear in other address lists The mailboxes work fine otherwise The msExchHideFromAddressLists attribute of the users are <not set> This is not a multi-tenant environment. Advice?

Hi, First, I would like to confirm the following questions: 1. Can you view the Child Domain’s mailbox in Outlook Online Mode? 2. Do you mean that you cannot view the mailbox in GAL or the mailbox’s contact information? 3. How many GCs are there in the forest? At this stage, I suggest you check the result in Outlook Online Mode for a test. Meanwhile, please type the following cmdlet to increase the Event Log level and monitor the Event log. If there is any OAB Event error, please send it to me for research. Set-EventLogLevel -Identity "MSExchangeSA\OAL Generator" -Level High Thanks. Hello Novak, 1. No, it is empty 2. I cannot view the mailbox in the GAL 3. There are four GC's in the site; two for each domain I've also set the diagnostic level you ask above previously, and there are no event logs consistent with any issue with OAB generation.

Hi, I suspect the issue can occur by AD replication problem. To troubleshoot the issue, please type the following command in Command Console and send the result to me for research. Run dcdiag, netdiag and repadmin in verbose mode. -> DCDIAG /V /C /D /E /s:yourdcname > c:\dcdiag.log (E option is for all DC) -> netdiag.exe /v > c:\netdiag.log (On each dc) -> repadmin.exe /showrepl dc* /verbose /all /intersite > c:\repl.txt -> ntfrsutl ds your_dc_name > c:\sysvol.log -> dnslint /ad /s "IP address of your dc" Thanks. Hi Jeff... 1. Is the Microsoft Exchange Address Book service started? 2. If so, can you restart it and check for errors in the application log? 3. It's interesting that they are visible in OWA, but not Outlook... Are you 100% sure you have checked a client that is NOT in cached mode? 4. If so... What does cached mode show? (Using the Offline Address Book at this point) 5. In the child domain, does a mailbox see the root domain mailboxes? 6. In the root domain, the mailboxes only see the root domain? 5. If both the GAL and the OAB are empty for the child domain users... and the Get-Recipient doesn't even show the mailboxes... it would begin to sound like permissions (especially if they can manually do a checkname in Outlook)... Have you modified the permissions on these user accounts in the child domain? Perhaps on the OU? Any GPOs applied? Thanks, Kevin Ca - MSFTKevin Ca - MSFT

What is the client, OU 2003 or 2007-10? What happens when you configure the Outlook profile? Does it get configured successfully?Gulab | MCTS-MCITP Messaging: 2010 | MCTS-MCITP Messaging: 2007 | MCC 2011 | Skype: Gulab.Mallah
