Checking outgoing attachments
Hi,We are currently using MDaemon for out mailing system and currently in the process of setting up and migrating to an exchange 2007 SP1 system due to better functioning with outlook and our blackberry's, however we have come across a few snags and this is one of them. I will try to explain in more detail,We have several departments such as sales, accounts, admin, credit, it etcCURRENT SETUPNow if someone in sales wants to send an email out (external) that has a PDF document attached then the email goes to someone else (normally an admin) first for them to check the contents of the PDF and then either confirm sending or decline sending. So for exampleMr A Smith (asmith@ourcompany.com) sends an email to J Bloggs (jbloggs@abc.com) with a PDF document, but before the email leaves the building Miss C Jones (cjones@ourcompany.com) checks the emails PDF and then forwards it on keeping Mr A Smith as the original sender (redirect)Now Im a bit stuck as to how to recreate this within exchange 2007, is it possible?ThanksMike

Hi Mike,User level mail flow moderation is not possible natively in Exchange 2007. You may need to search for some third party tools to do so.You can use transport rules to forward a copy to to third person (in your case Miss C Jones) but moderation is not possible.http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124703.aspxYou can take a look at Public Folder moderation machenisam if it helps you in some way but it doesn't send mail to recipient and he/she needs to check it manually in public folder once moderator approved it....http://www.msexchange.org/articles/Creating-Using-Moderated-Public-Folders-Exchange-Server.htmlAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

As Amit said, the task is impossible by using the default features in the exchange 2007. However, function can be done if you combine the transport rule with customized script in users outlook side The idea is, redirect PDF attached messages to the administrator, we can do it with transport rule. On the administrators mailbox, we create a VBA script [1] on an Approved folder to redirect messages again to original recipient with original sender again. Administrator can move reviewed messages from Inbox folder to Approved folder in order to trigger the script [1]. In the script, retrieve the e-mail addresses of recipients and senders from the messages and put them back to the From and To field, and also add some specific words in the message header. Then, go back to transport rule created before, we need to add an exception on it: except when the text specific words appears in a message header, it makes sure that transport rule wont be triggered on the messages redirected by administrator again As the solution would require script programming, it is beyond what we can do in the forum as the nature of forum support. I'd like to recommend you to contact Microsoft Customer Support Service (CSS) for assistance so that this problem can be resolved efficiently. You can get the phone number from here. Thanks!
