Check Exchange services after patching
Hi I am due to install OS patches on some Exchange servers next week: Exchange 2007 SP2 running on Winwdows 2008 Server OS. The server types are Mailbox, Hub and CAS. Once the servers have been patched and rebooted I would like some way of confirming that Exchange functionality is working. Test-ServiceHealth is the common test and was thinking of running Test-MAPIConnectivity on the Mailbox role servers, but what about the CAS and Hub? Can anyone recommend any tests? For instance for: Hub: Confirm that messages can be passed through it (telnet test?) CAS: Confirm OWA, Auto-discover Does anyone know any other services that run from these servers and also how to test?

Test-OutlookWebServices and Test-Mailflow would be the obvious candidates. Type test- in to a EMS box and press tab. That will show you the tests that are available. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.

Thanks for the answer. We also are running an SCR target in another city for our SG's on the mailbox servers, what's the best way to check them? Is there a powershell command to test they came back up ok? I guess we could check the copy status for each of the SG's, but anything else similar to test-servicehealth?

To test SCR, a simple cmdlet cannot archive it. There is a detail process to test SCR. If this is a production environment, it’s recommended to test it outside of core business hours which typically means an evening, overnight or over a weekend. For more information, please refer to the link below: http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/high-availability-recovery/testing-scr-production-environment-part1.html Thanks.
