Charts and Grapsh (excel setting Use System separators, use custom)

Hi,

I got a problem with powerpoint2013, when i use the Charts and Graphs and i have set custom separators in Excel.

I tested this issue with office 2010 and i change the "Excel options", "Advanced" to use custom separators instead of the default "Use system separators". I set custom decimal and thousand character and those show nicely on powerpoint2010

But when I reproduce earlier steps with office 2013 product. Changing earlier mentioned setting, the custom separators doesn't show at powerpoint2013 document.

I have found the only way to go around this problem by changing regional settings to different language. It's not convienent to change regional settings between presentations. Can this be fixed to work the same way as it does work with 2010?

Additional suggestion: It would also be nice to be able to have in each (Excel & Powerpoint) document own property for custom separators, as sometimes there is a need to change that setting between documents. At this moment, I need to keep track which separator should be in use in which document when dealing the document.

Hi mk,

I tested your issue in my own environment and I got the same result as you.

Environment: Excel 2010, PowerPoint2010, Windows7

Environment: Excel 2013, PowerPoint2013, Windows8

As you see, I can get the same result in Office2010 and Office2013 as you.

I suppose this is a design behavior in Office 2013, I also find the way as a workaround to work in Office2013 is go to Control Panel- Region- Formats- Additional settings as shown in the following figure:

Hope it's helpful.

Hi,

The problem for this alternative solution is that it affects the entire system behaviour. This might help on this issue, but it also can produce difficulties in other area with other softwares.

Hi mk,

I have helped you ask developers about this issue, and want to know if you can run a macro as a workaround. But unfortunately, developers tell me the chart cannot be changed in PowerPoint by using macro code.

I suppose change the customize format in Region might be the best workaround for your issue.
