Hello, We have 2 windws 20003 servers with AD. One of them I instaled exchange 2003 std. This server is aDNS and all other roles are installed Recently we bought another server installed 2003 wit.h exchange to replace old exchange server because of hardware. This is another DC with Global catalog server. I moved all the roles to nex exchnage server with DHCP. Still I am pointing DNS to the old server I did not configure old one is Front End server because I am going to remove the old server I moved all the mail boxes to new server. H Now my question is what else I have to do to remove old exchange server. What are the roles i have to transfer to new server. Instead of transferring roles can I change the IP of the old exchange server to new one. Let me know. Suresh

Don't change the IP, you need to properly decomission the old Exchange server. To article below goes over what you need to migrate in addition to your mailboxes. Once you have confirmed you have rehomed everything then you need to run Exchange setup on your first Exchange server and uninstall the software. Hi, If the IP address of the Exchange 2003 computer changes, make sure that you update Domain Name System (DNS) records. If you do not update DNS records, other servers may try to connect to the previous address. Hello thanks for your reply, If i want to keep the old server what is the procedure. If i tell our ISP to point smtp port to new server and keep the old server external IP, is it going to work. In ESM I will change routing groups from member to master and change MX record to 10 and point to new server ? Please help me Suresh
