Change from Lync Client to Skype for Business Client

We want to fully migrate our Lync Clients to Skype for Business.  I have run all of the related KB-referenced updates I can find and downloaded PowerShell scripts to do this.  Nothing seems to work.  I can go into Lync > Tools > Options > Lync Meetings and change the "Meeting default" to "Skype for Business (desktop)" but it has no effect.

When I go to the Start menu "Skype for Business" is available but it launches Lync.

How do I fix all this?  I bet it's simple.

Hi,

As far as I know, there is no separate installation package will exist for Skype for Business client. You have always to install the Lync 2013 client and run the latest updates for the Lync 2013 client and get the S4B client with these updates:

Lync 2013 (Skype for Business): July 2015

Lync 2013 (Skype for Business): April 2015

Then, if you are using Lync Server 2013, the default client experience will differ depending on server versions and UI settings. We need to configure it:

For example, the following command creates a new client policy, SalesClientUI, that selects the  Skype for Business client experience:

New-CsClientPolicy -Identity SalesClientUI -EnableSkypeUI $true

PS: If you have further question about Skype for Business, I recommend you post the question to Skype for Business forum:
