We need to change the name of a user on our network. "Jane Doe" is now "Jane Deer" We changed the name in the active users directory to "Jane Deer" however on exchange the emails are still going out as "Jane Doe"(the email address does not need any change because it is jane@ domain.com) Please help!!! What are we missing?

Have you also changed the Display Name field on the user account as well? If so, updates in AD may not appear in the Global Address List for hours on clients running in Cached Mode, depending on your settings for when Exchange builds new Address Lists and when clients automaticall download those changes.

Which version of Exchange are you running? And are you clients running in "Cached Mode"? The Simple Display Name field is not needed. If you are on Exchange 2003 take a look here for more info on the OAB generation process: http://blogs.technet.com/eileen_brown/archive/2006/01/03/OAB-generation.aspx You can force clientsCached Modeclients to download a newly generated OAB from Tools > Send/Receive > Download Address Book in Outlook.

The first tine round you changed the logon name? Then you changed the display name. So now Display and logon are correct but in ADUC folder view it's the old name? If so just right click and choose rename.

Actually it sounds like he's referring to the MAPI profile name in Outlook, or the mailbox name in the MAPI profile details. The profile name is not important, you can just leave it as it is, it's just a descriptive name.
