Cant remove public folder database from second storage group on old exchange server
Hi everyone, Recently we had to create a new exchange 2007 server(Virtual). I was able to move all the mailboxes and at present the new exchagne server is working fine. Emails are flowing flawlessly. But I am having trouble uninstialling the old exchange. I was able to remove all other roles except the mailbox as I am not able to remove the public folder database on the second storage group. Every time I try to delete it, it says its the default public folder database for the mailbox databases. Before deleting the public folder database assign a new public folder database to the mailbox database. Even thogh I have deleted all the public folders in it from Exchange Tools. Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks, Pankaj.

Did you rehome it to your Exchange 2007 server? To remove the public folder mailbox and stores, on the Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2000 server, use Exchange System Manager to perform the following steps: Expand the server, expand the storage group that contains the public folder store, right-click the public folder store, and then click Delete. In the dialog box that notifies you that the public folder store is the default store for one or more mailbox stores or users, click OK to select a new public folder store. In the Select Public Store dialog box, select a public folder store on an Exchange 2007 server, and then click OK.
