Cannot use Search in public folders Contacts
Hi, hope some one can help me with that. Some users cannot cannot make search trough contacts in public folders anymore. The error is : "Instant Search encountered a problem while trying to display search results. Modifying your query may resolve this problem." I've found nothing yet on the net. Local searches works fine. Some user can search the same public folders without problem. Users who have the error are having it on any outlook client (xp, 2003, 2007) on any Machine. I've reapplyed security settings, event if the user is owner of the public folder containing the contacts It wont work. It is working using OWA tho... I just dont know where to search anymore We have two exchange enterprise 2003 back-end and one Front-end all with SP2 Thank's

This looks like a permission issue. I would suggest to define the users that were able to access and the one that cannot. Check similaritieson the users that are affected, check group permissions sec permission given to this users. Also Have you used PFDAVAdmin to reissue the the security rights. Let's start from here and let's move on from there. Let us know.

Switch to Outlook's Folder List. Expand Public Folders and find the folder you want indexed. Right-click the folder and click Add to Favorites.... Set any options or rename the favorite and click the Add button. Right-click on Public Folders and click Properties for "Public Folders".... Click the Advanced... button. Click the Advanced tab. Check Use Exchange Cached Mode and Download Public Folder Favorites. ****(this is your problem) Click OK to close the Advanced property sheet. Click OK to close the Properties property sheet. Select your favorite folders or otherwise synchronize your client to download all items. This can take quite some time and is not recommended over remote connections. Download and install Windows Desktop Search if not installed already. Open the Windows Desktop Search property sheet. You can do this currently in the following ways: Click in the task bar search box, click the MSN logo in the lower-left corner, and click Desktop Options. With Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer, click on the MSN logo on the left side, and click MSN Search Toolbar Options. Click on the Desktop Search tree node. Select Custom folders and e-mail locations. Click the Browse button. Expand My Email, then Outlook, and check Public Folders. Click OK to close the Browse dialog. Optionally, click Rebuild Index to rebuild the index now. This can slow your machine's performance. Click OK to close the Desktop Search properties. You can now force a rebuild of the index or wait a while for the index to get built when your machine is idle. When finished you should be able to find mail, posts, and attachments from any favorites you have selected very quickly. Also Make sure the user has enough rights to the folder.
