Cannot upgrade Vista Home Premium x64 from SP1 to SP2
I am caught in a tailchase trying to install SP2 over SP1 on Vista Home Premium. First, when I am at Control Panel/Windows update and I select "Check for Updates" I get Error 80004002. At this forum I am directed to open a Command Prompt and
to enter REGSVR32 wuaueng.dll and several other .DLLs. The first one seemed to work but THIS one caused Error 0x80070005. [Oh, I had turned off my firewall.]
I failed to make my way through the acronyms and deep technical sophistication at this forum. Microsoft seems unable to support these orphans on my 2-yr-old laptop. I pray that someone else can. Most of these stumbles were addressed here nearly 2 years ago;
have they ever been resolved?
The few solutions presented here do not appear to address my dilemma. If updates ain't automated, I am lost and I am outta here. I appreciate your help if anyone is still addressing these old problems on this forum...come baaaack Shane!!.
