Cannot send external mail, receiving external and internal send/receive works fine.
Hello - I've just migrated to SBS 2008 with Exchange 2007 and having an issue sending mail now. Background info - Earlier in the week I was having an issue receiving mail, and sending was fine. Changed the default receive connector to allow external IPs and that started working, but not we can't send. We haven't gotten an error message back yet in the clients, but the queue has several messages. Attached is part of the current queue (get-queue | fl from management shell). The send connector is currently configured for * and all subdomains in the address space, and it is using DNS for routing on the network. one of the domains with "stuck" messages in queue was comails.com. I did a quick lookup and see 69.60.121.31 is the IP for comail's mail server. From your SBS server, open a command prompt and type: telnet 69.60.121.31 25 does it take you to a blank screen? If so, this rules out connectivity issues, but I'd start there, since the queue seems to indicate it cannot connect. Mike Crowley Check out My Blog!

Based on the logs you have there it looks like your mail server is talking to other mail servers, they just don't want to talk to you. You say you turned on external recipients on the recieve connector, are you talking about anon access? If so you may be the victim of a open proxy and you are now blacklisted. I would check on the blacklist site to see if you domain is listed there. Many email servers use such RBL's to limit spam. Use this link and put you smtp domain name in. When the results come in, check on blacklist check. http://www.mxtoolbox.com/ Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Since the errors are all 4xx, and the text in the status messages are all different, I'd guess that you're either having connectivity problems or your IP address is in a DNSBL or that the name in the HELO\EHLO doesn't have an "A" record in your external DNS or you may not have a PTR record for the IP address your server's using. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
