Cannot redirect /exchange to /owa
Hi:I have the following exchange 2007 setup:2 mailbox servers (mailbox01 and mailbox02)2 cas/hub servers in an NLB cluster (cas01 and cas02)2 edge servers (edge01 and edge02)One of my CAS servers hard disk crashed so I had to install a new one from scratch. This new server, I called cas03 to avoid any conflicts with the dead cas02. Now if I open a browser and type in https://cas03.blah.com/owa, I can login just fine and read and send email but if I type https://cas03.blah.com/exchange, it stays on the login screen for a while and then ultimately gives me an HTTP 1.1/503 error, instead of redirecting me to /owa. This happens both inside and outside the domain.I belive the above issue is related to the following error. Looking at the management console on cas03, when I got to Server Configuration > Mailbox, it shows both my Mailbox Database and Public Folder Database as Mounted but their Copy Status as "ServiceDown" and gives me the following error:"Microsoft Exchange Replication service RPC failed: The Microsoft Exchange Replication service may not be running on server mailbox01. RPC Exception: Error 6d9 cli_GetCopyStatusEx"RPC etc is all running fine on both mailbox servers and cas01 is working as expected. The SSL certificate for cas03 is generated using an internal CA, as it is for cas01.I don't see any errors in the Event Viewer on cas03 but I see an msExchangeRepl Information event (eventid 2099) in the event viewer on mailbox01 referring to the hub transport server on cas02 to resubmit messages. I've manually gone through ADSI to delete all references to cas02 (good or bad idea?).If someone could help me figure out what I've missed or misconfigured, I would be very thankful. Thanks!

Hi, is there any special reason you decided to setup a new server named 03 instead of rebuilding lost server with RecoverServer switch? Too bad you manually removed cas02 object in Active Directory since you could rebuild server using setup.com /mode:RecoverServer. Are we talking about two standalone mailbox servers (mailbox01 and 02) or do you have cluster? Do you have any type of replication (LCR, CCR, SCR) turned on? Are you running on top of Windows Server 2003 or 2008? Are cas01 and 03 located on same subnet as mailbox01 and 02? Event ID is related to Transport Dumpster. If my understanding is correct you deleted cas02 object from AD after Event ID 2099? By the way... do not forget to check Service Connections Points for Autodiscover records. Clients inside domain are using SCPs for locating web services at CAS servers... Best regards

I couldn't logon onto cas02 as both disks (disk 0 and its mirror disk1) crashed and the sytem refused to boot up etc. This being my first time doing exchange, I found out about RecoverServer mode after I'd already installed cas03! I fixed the problem after posting to this forum yesterday. It was a firewall rule that was allowing cas03 to talk to mailbox servers but the mailbox servers could not talk back to cas03. I missed that when I configured the firewall the day I installed cas03. Everything works great now. Thanks!
