Cannot read from source disk or file error when saving or moving files to a networked folder on 2003 server using a Windows 7 OS
I am running Windows 7 OS on a virtual machine (VM Fusion) and connect to my work networked folder which is on a 2003 Exchange Server. I can save files that I create or convert after opening to Office 2007 format but anything sent to me in 2003
format won't save to the networked folder. Instead I get the 'cannot read from source disk or file' error message. I've got the latest SP installed and don't have problems opening these files from attachments however they always appear as read only and
I then have to save them as office 2007 version before I can save them in the networked folder. As a result I am getting multiple versions of documents all over the place.
Other quirks are that rtf files won't move or copy between folders on the networked folder. I also find that drag and drop action to move files within the same networked folder brings up the login request. Cutting and pasting doesn't.
I've checked that Web Client Services are enabled and they are set to 'manual'. I'd be grateful for any advice as a search on the net and on these forums has drawn a blank.

Hi
You will get better response in the Windows 7 forum since this is not an Exchange question, post it in Win7 instead
