Cannot mount recovery storage group after restore
Running Exchange Server 2003 on Windows Server 2003 and after doing an offline backup/restore, I'm unable to mount the RSG. I get event IDs 9518 and 9519 with error code 0xfffffde4. I ran eseutil /mh against the .edb and .stm and they both show Clean Shutdown with the same DB signatures and date. The procedure I follow works fine if I restore a recent backup. One thing I noticed, the OS Version listed in the eseutil output shows the .edb - 5.2.3790 SP 2 while the .stm shows 5.2.3790 SP 1 (which is very weird because they were backed up together at the same time although the running production version was probably updated since the backup was done; if that means anything). Any clue as to what the problem is? If it's really a version issue, what options do I have besides creating another Exchange instance, back-level? Thanks!

Yes make sure you follow the steps in this article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124590(EXCHG.65).aspx. If you still have issues you can try using a third party utiltiy like Lucid8s DigiScope to crack open the EDB, and then export, recover whats needed without the need for an RSG. http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp
