Cannot login to my server PC

Hi,

A couple of weeks now, I have not been able to login to my server PC due to an error message stating 'wrong username or incorrect password'. I run Exchange server on windows SBS 2011 and I have a couple of client PC's that can access files remotely on the server. I currently cannot create new user accounts and other associated functions as I cannot access the server PC.

Normally, I get a prompt to change password every 3 months or so but this time around, I did not get any. The normal password i use to login to the server prompts incorrect login details. This has prevented me from creating additional users on the server and other functions that require the server login details eg remote desktop connection.

The good thing is that I can access shared folders on the server PC once turned on but I cannot do any other thing asides this due to the inability to login. At some point I tried to run a password breaker software but this yielded no results.

Kindly assist on what may be the probable cause and how to resolve this.

Thanks.

Hi

Can you try login with the domain administrator account and reset your account password?

Hi,

I cannot login to the domain administrator currently. My personal user account is an administrator but not with sufficient privileges to login to the server.

Hi Isaac,

if you are a Domain Administrator with your account, you can install the Windows 7 Remote Server Administration Tools and use the Active Directory Management Console to change the Administrator-Account's Password.

If that was your only Domain Administrator Account and you lost its password completely ... well you can try a brute-force approach and be patient.

Cheers,
Fred
