Cannot install Exchange 2007 SP1 on Win2008 R2 DC in Win 2k AD
Hi Everyone, I hope you guys can help me. I have simple network with one Win 2K STD SP4 DC running Exchange 2K SP3. The idea is to retiere this server with a new hardware running Windows 2008 R2 and Exchange 2007 SP1. Win 2K domain is in Native "Windows 2000" mode. I have successfully joined Win2008R2 to the domain and promote it as a DC. The W2008R2 is also GC. I have transfered the FSMO roles to W2008R2 DC. Exchange 2K organization is in Native Mode as well. When I try to run Exchange 2007 SP1 setup on the W2008R2, during the Prerequisites scan I got three errors: One related to DC running 2003 SP1 and two related to IIS. I have dealt with the errors related to IIS. Here is the scan log: Organization Prerequisites Failed Error: Cannot find at least one domain controller running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later in domain 'DC=gregor,DC=local'. This could be the result of moving domain controller objects in Active Directory. Check that at least one domain controller running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later is located in the 'Domain Controllers' organizational unit (OU) and rerun setup. Thank you NHussain for the quick response. I cannot download Exch2007 SP3. Do I have to slipstream the installation media with SP3 first ? I have read a lot of posts on the web from people having success installing Exch2007SP1 on W2008R2, but with W2003 SP1 DC present in AD. I am trying to retire the Win2K DC and I am wondering if I go this way and manage to transition Exch 2K to Exch 2007, am I going to have problems removing the W2003SP1 DC ?

Hello You can download the exchange 2007 SP3 http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=1687160b-634a-43cb-a65a-f355cff0afa6&displaylang=en You must prepare Active Directory and each domain before you perform the first installation of Exchange 2007 SP3 in an organization Install RSAT tools on the server and Prepare legacy permissions, Prepare Schema, Prepare AD http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff607233(EXCHG.80).aspx Then you can install all the roles and start the migration of all mailboxes.
