Cannot access default mailbox with exchange server
Hi we use a microsoft/citrix environment with exchange 2007 and running outlook 2007 on the citrix servers. We have a front/back end exchange layout. This has been working fine for 6 months with no major problems. However now we try to create a user with a login BinS. The mailbox creates fine with no issues. However when we try to log on to that profile and outlook tries to set up the profile, it all seems to go smoothly and then comes up with the error "Cannot open your default e-mail folders. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintainence." Now we have 30 other people on the same citrix server accessing the same exchange server with no problems. It's a brand new user so i don't see it being a client problem. It seems to be more of a release of knowledge from the exchange server. Occasionally it will work, however we find most of the time it will not. My question is, does anyone know why this is happening in the first place and i just found out this problem is starting to happen to existing users. Servers have Server 2003 x64, exchange 2007 (sp1), office 2007 (no sp1). Mcafee epolicy anti virus. help!?!?!?

That is a weird one. It seems like something is wrong in the profile and the profile is pointing to the wrong Exchange server. Can you edit the user's Outlook profile and make sure the Exchange server name is correct? Are your clients using AutoDiscover?

We have deleted the profiles, started again, with similar names and get the same result. We have tried renaming the account once it has been created and it still doesn't work when we've created it with BinS We've restarted the exchange server with no change in result. It's basically we've noticed it seems to be especially apparent when the system volume of the mailbox exchange server gets to about 5GB of free space. Sometimes freeing up the space will make it work. Creating a new user and setting them up on our servers is something we have done 100 times over, but for some reason we are having trouble with this one.

Hi, Now I suggest we look over the error message in Event Log on the Exchange server. Whether any error message comes up? If so, please post the information on the forum. Thanks Allen

Hi Sorry for the delay, was waiting for the problem to show itself again. No error message came up on the exchange server that looked like it was related to the problem. We have recently undergone a disk upgrade to the exchange server and placed a second mailstore on the new disks and moved the affected mailbox to the new mail store. For whatever reason, the problem hasn't been seen again since this upgrade was done. Will let you know if it comes up again.
