We have recently migrated to Outlook 2010 and we no longer have the option to delete a Calendar from the 'My Calendars' section.

When you right click on the calendar the 'Delete Calendar' option is greyed out.  Has anyone seen this issue, and know of a fix/workaround?

thanks but no, as I said above the delete calendar option is greyed out, I do not want to delete items in a calendar, nor do I want to delete a group of Calendars.

So where exactly are these calendars located and how have they been added in the first place?
Which mail account type are you using? POP3, IMAP, Exchange, Hotmail, other...?

You cannot delete your own default Calendar, nor can you delete any default Calendars from mapped mailboxes. You are free to delete/remove all others.

jmaclellan - did you ever get an answer to this? I have a user that was migrated from xp and office 2007 to win7 and office 2010 using the easy transfer. She has a calendar for another person listed under her My Calendars and when we right click on it, the Delete Calendar option is missing entirely. When I add a calendar to the My Calendars in my Outlook, and then right click it, the option is there. I'm sure it is something that transferred over that is causing it. For my client, the same user's calendar also appears in the Shared Calendars. She only wants it to appear in the Shared Calendars. Thanks for any help. 

No I did not i'm afraid..

I have the exact same problem. A calendar from an earlier mailbox is stuck under my calendars, and delete option is greyed out. Just copy calendar is available.. i Hate this problems! Can't find the name of the calendar in registry or anywhere else i know of. Please advice!

Start Outlook with the /resetnavpane switch

• Windows XP
  Start-> Run: outlook.exe /resetnavpane
• Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8
  Start-> type: outlook.exe /resetnavpane

Note the space in the command above.

I've just upgraded to office 365 and windows 8 and had major problems with the calendars. I've spent hours searching for solutions.

I ended up with 15 old calendars that were annoying.

Now it looks normal again.

Did you come right with removing the calender yet?

You mention the calender is showing under My Calenders, I Suggest you would have to remove/close the mailbox associated with it and the calender will automatically disappear.

In outlook 2010 you go to:

File, Account Settings, Account settings again, Under email account, select the Email account, Click Change, on the Server Settings page click more settings,

Navigate to the Advance tab, and under Mailboxes, there should be a mailbox there that is related to the calender,

Select the mailbox and remove it, Calender should be missing now as well.

The Delete Calender Option is greyed out because the full mailbox has been added in outlook,

The only time you can delete calender are when they have delegated it or shared group calender.

Here is what worked for me:

I went to live.com and logged into my account.
In the top left had corner I clicked on the drop down arrow next to the Outlook logo, then Calendar
I then clicked on the Settings (Gear) icon beside my name in the top right-hand corner, then Options
Under Options is where I found the calendars i couldn't delete in Outlook (desktop)
I clicked on the calendar I wanted to get rid of and clicked Delete in the taskbar at the top (took awhile for me to notice where the delete button was at) then Delete again in the pop-up.
I went back into Outlook (desktop) and hit F9 (Send/Receive) and the calendar disappeared.

Hope this works for anyone that encounters this problem!

If the sync is between SharePoint (online) calendar and outlook the connection is made to a SharePoint (calendar) List. Get rid of the connection in SharePoint List tab on your local Outlook Account Settings.

Tish, I am so glad I ran across your answer. I've been trying to do this for a couple of years periodically trying and giving up. I followed your instructions and it worked. Instead of just disappearing I was able to update Outlook 2010 (desktop) after an Outlook restart. The calendar wasn't gone so I right clicked on the calendar I wanted to delete and the option was now available to delete. I don't have an exchange server and many of the other answers didn't work for me so it was great to finally get this fixed.  Thank you for your help. Mine was a simple Outlook/Live calendar and Tish's answer was the right one for me.

Another little bit of information for anyone doing this is to make sure you have copied all of your calendar items to whichever calendar you'll be using. When I deleted what was the original calendar all of my flag/color settings vanished after making the default calendar change so I did have to go in and re-set all of that. With the calendar in list view it was pretty easy but you should be aware that you may see a completely colorless calendar so take a few minutes to go in and set those flags back up.  I don't know why it changed them having deleted an empty calendar but it did on mine.  I also moved all of the items from the old calendar to my current one using list view which was simple for anyone wanting to do it just go into view and change the settings to list. Highlight them all and move them to the new calendar.  I like to keep even my old appointments in mine as reference or for any notes and information I may have put in the appointment.
