Good day Xiu, The version of Exchange Server is 2003, I have move the mailbox thru Exchange Manager, Server, Mailbox Store, I have 3 Domain Controller, 1st is Master Domain Controller, 2nd is the failover if DC0 is busy, 3rd is the Exchange, which installed the Exchange Server 2003. I would like to know more information what is the purpose, used of "Recipient Update Service"? based on your own experience, and also the "Connector", and the "Default Policy" on Exchange, it is possible to connect the Exchange Server to Unix DNS Server which handle domain name that will use for the email outside. I can be able to research on that easily but I want some added information regarding this infrastructure using Exchange Server. Thanks and Regards, and thanks also for your understanding. Cheers,

Hi, We can use the Recipient Update Service to update recipient objects in a domain with specific information, such as address list membership and e-mail addresses. By default, it has Update Interval settings which means that recipient policies are automatically reapplied whenever they are modified. Here, we can manually to update the RUS to force it to apply the recipient policy. For connector, in Exchange, we have SMTP connector, TCP X.400 connector, X25 X.400 connector. We can use these connector to route email to certain destination, including exchange server internal, external exchange organization, non-exchange email system, etc. SMTP connectors are used primarily to connect to other mail systems or to define additional options for an SMTP Internet gateway. SMTP connectors can also be used to connect a routing group to another routing group internally, but an SMTP connector is generally not recommended for doing so. Essentially, SMTP connectors allow you to designate an isolated route for messages to flow either to a specific domain or over the Internet. One advantage to using an SMTP connector is that you can specify additional configuration settings to affect mail delivery. For default policy, it is recipient policy. Recipient policies are used to automatically control the generation of e-mail addresses for recipient objects. More information about RUS: The Recipient Update Service (RUS) is service that updates recipient objects within a domain with specific types of information. For example, the RUS updates recipient objects with e-mail addresses and address list membership at scheduled intervals. Usually an administrator is responsible for determining the intervals at which this service runs. Good day Xiu, I have another informative question what is the difference between Mail Exchanger that you have to set on DNS Resource Records (MX), with the RUS, Custom Recipient Policy by adding another SMTP entry? I can also used this RUS, Custom Recipient Policy by adding another SMTP entry, if I have a (Private) local Domain Controller Server (AD DNS Integrated) and Exchange Server with the domain of "internaldomain.com", I have a (Public) DNS Server which only act as DNS Server with the domain of "externaldomain.com", which do I have to register these two domain name "internaldomain.com" and "externaldomain.com" or I will only register the "externaldomain.com". If the outside user if they want to email the "internaldomain.com" it will recieved also on "externaldomain.com". I don't know if my question is very confusing or understandable, but I would like not to reconfigured again my AD DNS Integrated and start a new Domain Controller with new DNS name, I want to retain my private AD DNS Integrated Server. Thanks and Regards Xiu, Cheers,

Hi,We need to create MX record from public DNS so that it can resolve abc.com to your exchange server IP address when you email to abc.com. So if your internal network domain name is different to the domain name that you register in public DNS then we recommend you to add a E-mail address recipient policy to new a SMTP address which is match to your public domain name. After that, all the user will have a email address with the abc.com as the suffix. For you issue, internal domain is "internaldomain.com" public domain is "externaldomain.com",then I think you need to new recipient policy -E-mail addresses-New SMTP Address, there please add "externaldomain.com". After that, please right click on this policy and try to "apply this policy now". How to use recipient policies to control e-mail addresses in Exchange 2003 and in Exchange 2000 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/319201 Regards, Xiu
