There is no setting within Word 2013 itself to display all documents within a single application window.
Perhaps you could use an add-in such as Tabs for Word or Office Tabs (please note that the latter page has a separate link for Office 2013).

Word 2010 allowed you a choiice between opening multiple documents in one runnng instances of Word (in different "windows") or opening them each in its own copy of Word. I dislike the second choice and always opted for the first one. Just bought Word 2013 and scanning through all the options I can find the option to disable the multiple instances of Word. Is that option still available in 2013? If so, WHERE IS IT? If it is no longer an option, is there some way, whether through another app or by fooling with the registry, that I can go back to the Single instance of Word for multiple documents?
Hans,
Do you know if Office 2016 is going to be the same as 2013 regarding this, or if they will bring back the option to choose between single or multipe Word instances?
Hi Robert
As this is more a configuration than a developer question I'm going to move the discussion to the TechNet IT Pro forum where someone might have an idea whether there's a setting you could use.
Hi Robert,
I agree with Hans, this issue is a by design behavior of Office 2013. For more detail information, we can see this Blog about "Office apps SDI (Single Document Interface)"
Then, you might submit the feedback of Office 2016 with this site:
