Can only access OWA using IP but not mail.companyname.com/exchange
Hi, We are running Microsoft SBS2003.Currently our users access OWA using an ip address. I would like them to be able to access OWA using the company name instead of the IP address for example https://mail.companyname.com/exchange instead of https://123.123.12.1/exchange.Does this feature require additional configuration as I have tried mail.companyname and this does not work? Thanks,Chris.

Yes offcourse you need to contact your ISP where your internet domain is hosted and request a new A record mail.company.com that connects to your ip A mail.company.com 123.123.12.1 Deli

Thank you for the reply. I have tested the A record on dnsstuff.com which confirmed we do not have an A record. Many thanks, Chris.

Ok, The steps are simple to do that. Be relax, and follow the steps below: Ask to your domain hosted service provider to create A record entry or if you have control panel access for your domain you can easily do it on one go. Ask them to create A record with http://mail.yourcompany.com/exchange which will point to your IP... i.e. when you ping mail.yourcompany.com the reply should come from your public IP. reply with result.
