Can not see trusted forest in linked mailbox wizard Exchange 2007
I have an odd situtation. I have just deployed a new exchange 2007 server into an existing 2003 organization. Everything went fine and everything appears to work great. I can transfer email between the one existing 2003 server and the new 2007 server. I have also cleared up all the errors using the exchange best pratices analyst tool, but I do have a lingering problem. When I go to run the add new mailbox wizard and choose a "linked mailbox" I can step all the way through the wizard and get to the part where you go to linked an external account in a trusted forrest but can not see the trusted domain to choose the accounts. Ihave 2... 2 way forest trusts. I can see one xyz forestin the list but can't see the other ABC forest in the list to choose. I have also tried to create the linked mailbox via the command shell with no sucess. I do have a worked around. I can create the mailbox on the existing exchange 2003 server. Do the manual process to setup the external associated account and set the send as permisson...etc... I can then move the mailbox to the exchange2007 and it works fine. I just don't understand why I can't do it using the 2007 Management Console wizard or the 2007 Managment shell. Is it a bug? I can't find anything about it anywhere. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I am about ready to spend the $275 odd dollars to call tech support... Thanks LLTJ

I would guess that this was a trust relationship problem. I really hate resource forests since I end up troubleshooting really weird problems like this.

I thought it would be as well, but I have peoplethat access cross forest resources all the time with this domain's accountsI am having trouble seeing. This domain did have 4 orphaned exchange 2000 installation. Maybe that has something to do with it. I reckon the next step is to kill the trust and recreate it? I never had to do this.....so I am scared to do it thanks for the response.

Is it a domain trust or a forest trust? I wonder if that has something to do with it? If it is a domain trust, create a forest trust.

I went to do that and the wizard said I already had one Wierd..... Also, the other day I noticed that when I went to set an alternate delivery on mailbox from my exchange server I couldn't see this there as well. I could see the one that I have never had a problem with. What is ever more wierd is I can see the trust from the login dialogue on the server. I can even log into that trust domain from my 2003 exchange server with a admin account. I reckon if I want the solution...its pay pay pay Thanks for the info and help.

I finally broke the trust and recreated it and everything is fine now. I wonder if taking the domain to native mode as a prereq to install 2007 did it. The wierd things that technology puts us through.. Thanks for the input.
