Can not save new contact in OWA 2013 - Exchange CU7 Update.
Problem:
After updating to Exchange 2013 CU7 I receive an error message stating: "The contact can't be saved right now. Please try again later.
Product Affected:
Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 Cumalitive Update 7 with Outlook Web App 2013.
Steps to reproduce the problem:
- Open OWA
- Go to People tab
- Add a new contact without adding an email address.
Notes:
- The contact does actually appear to be added, but in some cases is unable to be searched for using search bar. The error message: "An error occurred while searching. Please try again later." appears in the search result pane.
- If an email address is entered the contact is saved without warning
- I have tested on two separate servers in separate domains.
- It does not appear to happen on previous versions of Exchange 2013.
Has anyone else experienced this issue or found a fix?

Have you tried reboot servers? Please make sure all related Exchange services is started and running in Exchange 2013 CU7.

A user in our environment just reported this same issue to me today. I was able to replicate it on my end as well. It appears that when you create a NEW contact, it is defaulting to adding an e-mail/display name and there is no way to remove
the e-mail field. For now I have instructed users who just want to add contacts where they only have a phone number, to add in a fake e-mail like none@none.com or something. This will at least allow them to save the contact without an error.

I can confirm as well, I was able to duplicate it.

Thank you everyone for your feedback. @Tri_angle - yes I have rebooted both servers with the same results.

Hi
I have the same issue on a hosted customer setup, after upgrading from CU6 to CU7 on a 2 node Enterprise DAG. It worked on CU6, and it works on our own internal 2013 CU6 server.
Could it be, that this is simply a bug, that MS needs to fix with an update?

Hey, sounds like it is a bug. If it is, I think it's better to directly open a case from Microsoft Support. The case may no be free. But if it is confirmed to be a bug, you would not need to pay for it.

Hi, we have same issue. Did someone fixed already?

Not fixed yet. Same issue here.
EDIT - actually it tells you the contact can't be saved, but then adds it anyway. Pretty annoying.
