I haven't tried that specifically, but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Unfortunately I don't have a test lab to try this out on. We need to migrate some 2010 mailbox users to 2003 mailboxes (transfer of employees from one agency to another). Sounds odd I know, but that is the need.

If its in PST format then yes, just open Outlook on the users machine and use the Import/Export Feature of Outlook. If you have quite a few PST files to import, then you can use Exmerge.exe tool for Exchange 2003 Server.MVP Exchange Server

Thanks all. The PST file would be in 64-bit and being imported to a 32-bit mailbox kind of tripped me up a bit. But based on your comments, this seems to be ok and works fine.

Johns suggestion of using ExMerge to do the import to the 2003 box is a great one, however, here are a few additional things to keep in mind; ExMerge only supports ANSI based PSTs (Outlook 97-2002) meaning if you try to use Unicode based PSTs (Outlook 2003 forward) ExMerge will fail to import and will throw all sorts of Unhelpful errors that will make you go insane. ANSI based PSTs only work up to 2GB and really they start to degrade at about 1.8GB so be carefully because neither ExMerge nor Outlook will warn you if you are going over the limit, they will just not work later. If your mailboxes will be under 2GB in PST size then ExMerge is a good resolution. Outlook 2003 forward can create ANSI based PSTs, so when you export the Mailboxes just be sure to select the Outlook 97-2002 PST file format IF you are going to use ExMerge If you are only doing a few exports imports then my suggestion would be to export and import by hand via Outlook and use the default PST format which is Unicode. To keep things clean on both sides I would use Outlook 2007 to connect to the Exchange 2010 and 2003 server so that you can eliminate any potential issues with say Outlook 2010 which could have some differences & IMHO Outlook 2010 especially the 64 bit is not quite ready for prime time. Don't get me wrong its cool and all but I would use 2007 from a consistency standpoint between the two versions of Exchange. SHAMELESS PLUG: if you have allot of mailboxes to export/import you might want to check out a third party product like Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp that has allot more features and capabilities and is cross version compatible, supports ANSI & Unicode PSTs etc. Here is a quick Flash Demo you might find useful as well http://l8downloads.com/FLASH/DSWEB/DigiScope_Overview.html Troy Werelius Lucid8
