Can I use Exchange 2007 SP 1on a Windows Server 2008 Std. R2 inside a child domain?
I have a forest running Exchange 2003 with 5 child domains running the same version of Exchange. I have created a sixth child domain which uses a Windows Server 2008 Std. R2. I am planning to install Exchange 2007 on this server. Is this a valid set up?

Yes, but you will probably need to prepare the schema and Active Directory first unless the account since the schema master is in a different domain. And there's a little more to it than just installing Exchange.-- Ed Crowley MVP"There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems.". “We will be adding support for Exchange 2007 on the Windows Server 2008 R2 platform. While we had hoped to add this application/operating system combination quickly, unfortunately adding this support requires code changes to setup in Exchange 2007. Therefore, our vehicle for adding this support will be via a third Service Pack for Exchange 2007 in the second half of calendar year 2010.” -----------Refer to <Updates to the Exchange Supportability Matrix>James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com

As you are updating the Schema for the domain, the exchange organisation only supports one Organisation per forest, you do realise that you will not longer be able to add any more exchange 2003 servers to the forest.
