Hi, I'm new to Exchange Server and not really even sure how to ask this question... Basically, I have a Windows Workflow 4 activity that uses SMTP to send email notifications. This activity works in an environment without Exchange by using Hotmail as the SMTP server. I want to setup my workflow in an environment with an Exchange server with the ability to send notifications to internal and external email addresses. Is it possible to setup the internal emails to be delivered within the network? Meaning it shouldn't reach the internet like would be necessary by using the Hotmail SMTP server. I'd like the internal emails delivered even if the internet connection is down; which is not possible using an external SMTP server. I hope this makes sense and there a fairly straight forward answer... Thanks, KBW

You didn't mention what release of Exchange you're running. However, what you want to do is to point your workflow server at a Hub Transport server (Exchange 2007/2010) or at an Exchange 2003 server that you'll use as a SMTP relay. You'll have to configure either another Receive Connector (Exchange 2007/2010) or your SMTP Virtual Server (Exchange 2003) to allow the use of anonymous sessions and to allow those anonymous sessions to send e-mail to any recipient. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
