Can I hide free/busy details for everyone?
We have and Exchange server 2003 and both Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2007. Users have their permissions set to "Free/Busy time" yet they can still see details of other user's calendars when they schedule a meeting. Is there anyway we can set it globally so that users can only see the Free/Bust time without hitting the private button on each appointment. I found the option of creating a form in Outlook and applying it but I am looking for something that can be done on the server level, perhaps with group policy. Thanks. Kent Tylman

If a user doesn't want free-busy details to show, then he must configure the rights on his calendar so that "Default" and "Anonymous" have read right on only Free/Busy time and nothing else. Be sure that they don't have any other rights explicitly or by membership of a group. Also make sure that the user doesn't have Full Mailbox Access right; I've seen where companies have mistakenly given everyone full access to all mailboxes. Full Mailbox Access overrides the folder rights.Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems."

Hi Kent, As Ed said, this has to be done at the client level. only other option is to write a script that goes through all the mailboxes and set the permission.Z-Hire -- Automate IT Account creation process Z-Term -- Automate IT account termination process

That's the default. But if the user has FMA permission on the mailbox they can see the details of the meeting. >I found the option of creating a form in Outlook and applying it but I am looking for something that can be done on the server level, perhaps with group policy. Of course the owner of mailbox had given everyone permission to see everything! --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Just had this type of issue in Exchange 2010. Powershell makes it a lot easier to scan the mailboxes to check what permissions Default has. Although I got quite a lot of false positives so to speak, i.e. Default set to Free/Busy only but script showing it up as having something different. Neill
