Can I delete and recreate the Default Global Address List to restore the default permissions in Exchange 2007?
Good day,My outlook 2003 users are receiving a message "Bookmark not valid" when trying to access the GAL or when trying to connect outlook 2003 to an Exchange 2007 mailbox. The permission on my GAL were messed up when i tried to fix a Offline Address Sync Issue between exchange 2007 and outlook 2007. Is there some way to delet the Default GAL and recreate it so that the correct permissions are restored?

If you think this is just a permission issue then try to reset your AD permissions http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125224.aspx(setup /PrepareAD). This will recreate the default GAL for you with appropiate permissions.Raj

Also run ExBPA for permission check, which would picks up the permission issue and guide you to correct it....Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Hi, Please run Exbap for a permission check. Since the permission of GAL can be inherited from parent object, recreating GAL may not fix the issue, but you can give it a try. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232063.aspx Thanks, Elvis

Rajnish,I tried reseting using the directions from the article and the other suggestionsbut with the same result. I also ran ExBPA and it comes up clean. I have been trying differnt things all weekend but to no avail. I have enen tried paid support from Microsoftbut I am unable to reach anyone calling their 787-273-3600 (Caribbean Support) and stateside support keeps kicking me back to Caribbean Support.I ran OABInteg to help diagnose the problem but it has not provided me enough information to zero in on the problem. Can you take a look at my result and see if there is anything that could be causing the problem?OABInteg (Offline Address Book Integrity Checker)Version : 1, 0, 0, 1OABIntegMicrosoft Corporation, Copyright (C) 2005===================================================== Registry scan started at: 10:05:27 AM Checking for the (HKLM) Exchange Provider Registry KeyChecking for the DS Server registry value: The DS Server registry value not found - this is ok. Really surprising that even running the ADPREP didnt resolved your issue. Try this Microsoft proffesional support number 1800-936-4900.Raj

Please make sure you have good connectivity between GC/DC's? run dcdiag and netdiag. have you installed exchange server on DC/GC? I would aslo try rebooting DC/GC to make sure the error wipes outVinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|
