Can I Rename the Exchange Organisation during a 2003 to 2007 migration ?
We are migrating into the forest of our sister company. Their Exchange Organization name however must be changed. How can we change the Exchange Organization name in the target Forest ? We know that in the current Exchange 2003 this is not possible. So we are wondering if we upgrade to Exchange 2007, if this this will give us the option to change the Exchange Organization name for the targetForest when:1 during installation of new Exchange 2007 Server into existing 2003 Exchange Organization 2 or is it possible to install a seperate Exchange 2007 in the same forest where there is already an Exchange 2003 Org.3 or need I install Exchange 2007 into a virginEXTERNAL Forest where we know we CAN choose a new Exchange Org name, move the mailboxes etc to that new Exchange Org in the external forest, then destroy the Exchange 2003 Org in the "home" forest and then create AGAIN a new Exchange Org in the "home" forest and give it the name we wish, only to then again migrate all the Mailboxes from that EXTERNAL forest back into the "home" forest which was the starting point.. ????Puuhhh... just writing this gave me a headache.... Somebody save us from this nightmare and show us the easiest way to a RENAMED Exchange Organization -- PLEASE !Cheers,

The only way is to go as per option #3 because many attribute (like legacyExchangeDN) of almost all objects of AD, all Exchange configuration, are stored with Exchange Organization name so it is fairly impossible to rename it at all the places.Best way is uninstall full Exchange environment and install back with correct name...Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA, MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
