Can I Change the Recipient Scope in EMS to exclude an OU?
We'd like to Change the Recipient Scope in EMS to display everything in our domain except a specific OU. It doesn't look like this is possible. Has anyone had any success with this?Orange County District Attorney

Hi Sandy,~ It is not possible to exclude an OU from global recipient scope in EMS.Reference:Understanding Recipient Scopehttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996861.aspx~ There are two data filtering when you execute any cmdlet, server side and client side filtering.* I am sure, server side filtering doesn't help because -Filter parameter doesn't have any option to pick OU attribute.* Client side filtering should be a workaround for you, when you run any cmdlet just pipe the result with Where clause to exclude an OU, something similar to below. But this only supports when the command, you mentioned before pipe, returns an attribute OrganizationalUnit (like Get-Mailbox | FL returns OU attribute)Get-Mailbox ..... | Where {-not($_.OrganizationalUnit -eq "Domain.com/Users")} | Set-Mailbox ....Reference:Working with Command Outputhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123533.aspxAmit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Thanks Amit for the help. I'm getting ready to unleash the Management Console to my Help Desk team so they can start using it to create Contacts and Mailboxes. I know they will give me grief when they try to enumerate Contacts, we have over 15,000 due to one large OU that I've love to be able to exempt from the EMC console. Not a big deal, we can live with it. Orange County District Attorney
