Can't send email to contacts, have to type email manually

I have some trouble sending email to my contacts. If I type the contact Email manually it's working great but if I use the Contact entry it's not working at all.

I have 3 domains in my "Accepted domains" tab.

Is this a common error? Remember I had the same error on a clients server a couple weeks ago.

Windows Server 2008 R2

Exchange 2013

Hello Michelle,

Do you think the error is client side?

I will try to create a new contact / address book and see if it helps.

Hi ,

Did you receive any NDR on the client end? If so please share us  ?

Say for instance you are having an domain name called abc.com and it is added as authoritative on the accepted domains list. On such case if you try to send an email to the contact called nithya@abc.com which will makes the exchange server to check whether the contact is available in exchange or not.In case if it is not available on the exchange then exchange server will delivers an ndr report to the sender.

Why this happens ?

Because on the exchange server abc.com is added as authoritative .That means that the exchange servers on that exchange organisation is responsible and authoritative for all the recipients belongs to abc.com to have the proper mail flow.Because of that it checks that the recipient's is available in exchange or not.If any of the recipient is not available then it return back the NDR to the sender.

Hi arnada,

I agree with Singaravadivelu. Please post the related error message, its more helpful for further troubleshooting.
As additional for above suggestions, please try to send message to contacts from OWA.
If this issue only appear on Outlook client, please try to force update address with command Get-GlobalAddressList |Update-GlobalAddressList. Besides, please reset the Outlook auto-complete list and try again.

Meanwhile, let us know the result of new contact and testing.

Best Regards,
Allen Wang
