Can't send e-mail from Outlook 2010 after upgrade to Windows 10

Hello,

I've just upgraded to Windows 10 but now I can't send e-mails from Outlook 2010.

I can send test messages (using the send test e-mail option) and receive messages but any messages I compose won't send.

I've removed the account and recreated it (pointing the new account to the original .pst file) but still getting the same problem.

Grateful for any help.

Thanks

Jim

Look forward to replies as I have the same problem with Outlook 2010 on my laptop. Another computer on same home network, also upgraded to Win10, is fine, but nothing I have done so far will fix the laptop problem. As an experiment, I installed Oracle free e-mail prog and it works perfectly so is not a network or a computer problem.

As an aside, a friend also reported a problem on his Outlook after upgrading - just a silly but aggravating problem, where. when composing a new e-mail and starting to type in the recipient's name, the auto complete shows up but will not insert into the address field.

Ho hum, but I still quite like Win10.

Hi J Murray,

Based on your description, after upgrading to Windows 10, you cannot send e-mails from Outlook 2010 anymore. This issue seems to be common for some specific configurations although the actual cause isnt clear at this point. It can happen with any version of Outlook.

Please try to run the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker tool, also know as System File Checker or sfc. This tool scans and verifies the integrity of all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct versions.

  • Right click on the Start button of Windows and choose: Command Prompt (Admin).
    • If you dont see this, instead choose: Windows PowerShell (Admin)
  • Behind the prompt type: sfc /scannow
(note the space in the command)
  • Wait until the process completes. This usually doesnt take longer than 20 minutes with a regular hard disk and takes much shorter when you have a fast SSD drive.
  • Restart your computer.

Running SFC Doesn't work. Still same problem. I've even tried creating a new firewall setting for outlook. This should allow all incoming and outgoing info. still no joy.

This problem is the same with outlook or windows mail.
