Can't logon with our Office365 E1 accounts to onedrive (or even this forum)

Hello,

We have about 75 Office365 accounts with E1 licenses (=only mailbox, exchange online).

For some obscure reason we are unable to logon to the onedrive website or the onedrive mobile app, (or perhaps on a sidenote, even this forum), with these accounts.

See the error in the screenshot. ("Microsoft account does not exist").

What is going on ? Thank you.

Hi,Office365 accounts which are personal/home, use a Microsoft Account, and, Microsoft Accounts can be used for OneDrive, and other public Microsoft services like Outlook.com, MS Answers, TechNet forums, etc.

Office365 accounts which are part of a business or enterprise plan (e.g. E1 plan) are accounts which only exist within your O365 tenant, and are not Microsoft Accounts.

Thanks a great deal Don,

So this basically means : There is no way whatsoever to use an E1 (or even E3) account to log on to OneDrive, Technet, Outlook.com, etc. Correct ?

Thanks in advance, again,

Kind regards, Have a great weekend,
Vincent

That's the understanding I have, yes.

MSFT keep suggesting that "a lot of things are going to change for the better when Windows10 is launched", but I don't know if that is going to help with this particular aspect or not...

In Windows8.1, when domain-joined to your on-premises Active Directory, you can use an on-Premises AD user identity.
The end-user can then "link" a Microsoft Account, on the Win8.1 pc, to the AD user account (which gives a kind of single-sign-on experience).

And, an on-premises AD can be federated or synchronised to your O365 tenant.

Maybe it might be possible to hook all of that up together, and that *might* get you what you're looking for ?

I haven't tried all that stuff. It sounds fairly clunky to me :(

Thanks Don.

Good to know. But we don't have any Windows 8 or 8.1 clients yet. We will wait and see how this turns out in the long run (AD & O365 single sign on). Thanks again.
