Can't login to mailbox when database is on some DAG members

Hello all,

I have a new DAG we setup with 4 server 2 in each site. Exchange 2013 on Serve 2008 R2.  When the database is activated on any server in site A, everything works perfect.  When the database is moved to site b, users sometimes have issues logging in to OWA and Outlook.  Both site have DC's in them.

Any ideas what could be wrong or where to start looking?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi All,

Thanks for the replies.

I did some testing and it seems to depend on what CAS server you come in from. I will try to explain the setup some more.

Currently we have 3 data centers.  Site A, B, C.

Site A and B are an existing environment that have a CAS server and MB server in each and are members of DAG1. Due to our load we are doing some upgrades and a move to a new data center to have site A and C host our exchange environment

We have added a CAS server into site C and 2 mailbox servers and added 2 mailbox server to site A.  All are members of DAG2.

When we started seeing the issue we were using the nearest CAS server. For testing we hit each CAS server directly via entries in the users HOST file

In our testing, if a user hits the new CAS server at site C, they can hit any database regardless of what data center the database is currently mounted at.

The issue we are seeing is if a user comes in VIA site A or B CAS server, they can only login to the databases that are mounted in site A or B, but not databases mounted in C.  If i move the active DB copy from C to A, the user can login without issues.

It appears that its effecting OWA and Outlook.  Mobile still works from what we have seen.

All the copy status are healthy in both the data centers.  We have not seen any network issues from any of the sites.  At all times i have been able to reach (ping) any MB server from any CAS server and vice versa

The only other thing i can think of is something with the certificates?

Thanks again for your help
