Can't add new users, problem with Reciepient Update Services
I hope I make this clear enough that someone can help. I recently had a DC in our domain fail. Through MS help I was able to demote this server to a member server, move all the tasks that DC was performing to our other DC in the domain (we now only have 1) and get everything back on its feet. Problem is I can't add a new user to my exchange server. When I try it says it can't contact to domain.
I traced the problem to the Recipient Update Services where it was still looking to Server1 (our old DC) and not Server2. I moved the Enterprise service over to server2 by just clicking browse then choosing Server2 from the list. When I try that for the domain Service, I get an error every time that it can't contact the domain. It says specific domain does not exist or could not be contacted. Everyone can receive e-mails just fine and accessing the Exchange server is no problem. It's DNS is set fine and everything else seems to work with no problems. I checked the Event log and I get Event ID 8231 Permanent failure reported by Policy group provider...MAD.exe error=80040103.Question is, how do I fix this so I can add new users to my exchange server for new mailboxes?

Hi,
Can you create a new recipient update service and disable/delete the original one?

I tried, but when I type in or click browse for our domain, I get the same error that is can not be communicated with or not available.
