I get the same message, with a code of either (0X80070190) or (0x80070057).

I had no problem activating on my home computer, but this is on my work computer, which is behind a corporate firewall.

I haven't had a problem activating other software.

Hi cyberber,

Are you using this at home, or at work, as Montana Steve indicated? If you have an authenticated proxy we don't support activation. You'll have to activate by phone by RTM.

Thanks,

Ted

I'm using this at home . I don't have any kind of proxy. Ted can you ilustrate me why I am getting this message.

Hi folks,
I believe you are hitting a known issue surrounding activation elevation. Pleaseopen the registryvia Start>Run>Regedit and hit enter.
Navigate to:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform]
Under here you will see a DWORD value name called "UserOperations" Please give this a value of 1 and retry activation.
Cheers,
--R.

Richie I followed your instructions to the toe and I still can't activate the new Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Beta. I've tried everything changing the MAK serial & even reinstalling and still get the same error. I hope someone can get to the bottom of this. One more thing I never get the option to activate by phone even when I am disconnected to the internet its always unavailable.

Apologies for your frustration folks. I'm still trying to figure out root cause here. From a command line (start>run>cmd.exe) please run the following commands & let me know the output.

cscript C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs -dstatus
cscript C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs -act

(you can paste the output by right clicking the cmd line > edit > select all, right click again to copy the strings, then paste into email)

Thanks,

Please find the ospp.vbs file first. What drive did you install Office in?

1.) Please copy and paste this command:
cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\"
dir ospp.vbs

2.) Do you see the ospp.vbs? If not, then you might need to try E:, or the drive letter you installed Office on. Once you're in the directory, then run and paste the output.

I've been following this thread (or others like it) for a couple of days because I haven't been able to activate my copy of Office 2010 beta. Knowing I had 30 days to activate, I figured I'd wait until winter break to tackle the problem. BAD IDEA!
Today, only a week or so after installing the beta suite I've been locked out! It says that my copy is unlicensed(no surprise there) but no more gentle reminder of how many days I've got left to activate it! I can open documents and print them but I cannot create, edit or save documents at all!!!!!
Please help me. In the middle of studying for finals and I can't have office ____ out on me now!
I'm running XP SP3 and prior to installing this beta I had Microsoft Office 2003. As a side note, during setup I had the option not touninstallprior versions of office, or individual components. Iselectednot to uninstall Word 2003, but of course, that's not working now either.
I'm pasting my output from running the following command lines:
cd "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\"
dir ospp.vbs

cscript ospp.vbs -dstatus
cscriptospp.vbs -act

Apologies for not getting back to you. I haven't been able to repro this, so we'll have to go through this one-by-one. Are you logged in as an administrator? Is the UserOperations registry key from Richie set to 1?Did you have any previous Office installations on Win XP SP3?

@wigneys

Please take a look at this page:

http://www.microsoft.com/office/2010/en/activation.aspx

Enter the MAK key and activate online, unless you know your organization has an Office 2010 KMS host (your admin would know).

Worked here as well - disconnected from corporate network, hooked up via 3G then went to the above page and followed instructions.

Only deviation was that it asked if I wished to "Install Now" afterwards similar to the install screen - I simply hit Install Now, waited about 30-40 seconds, shut down all the Office apps, now it's back in business.

Thank you very much Ted :):):):)

I am facing the same issue on activating the office beta 2010.  An unspecified error has ocurred. Your request cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later (0x8007001).
I have tried all the work arounds given here, but no use. So could you pls check. The script outputs are as below

@kamikazepilot

Could you please open the command prompt as an administrator?

Also, please provide the following information: what OS are you using?  32b or 64b?  Are you running 32b or 64b Office?

Feel free to start a new thread on this forum so it'll be easier to track.
December 22nd, 2009 6:05pm

Try this one:

Close all openend Office Applications.

start cmd.exe and move to your office installation, e.g.

c:\program files\microsoft office\office14\

enter the following:

c:\program files\microsoft office\office14\cscript ospp.vbs -remhst

c:\program files\microsoft office\office14\cscript ospp.vbs -inpkey:XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX (MAK-Key)

c:\program files\microsoft office\office14\cscript ospp.vbs -act

After this above, you should get the following output:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14>cscript ospp.vbs -act
Microsoft (R) Windows Script Host, Version 5.8
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation 1996-2001. Alle Rechte vorbehalten.

Hi,

I had the same issue and I thought I would share how I was able to activate my Office 2010.  The activation errored with "The following error  An unspecified error has ocurred. Your request cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later 0x80070190".  The error happens after a login box asks me to enter in my username and password.  I was able to get this working by entering in local credentials instead of my domain credentials.
